Cover Supervisor

Portsmouth, Hampshire
£110 per day
Full TimePart TimeTemporary

About This Role

Manaba is working with schools in Portsmouth who require Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of subjects for daily and weekly bookings, and occasional longer term assignments.

A cover supervisor stands in during absences of a teacher to deliver planned lessons to whole classes, ensuring all pupils can achieve their full potential. Cover supervisors may also provide support in lessons or within the pastoral team working more widely across the school.

Working as a cover supervisor can be extremely rewarding but also very demanding. There is a high level of responsibility and although there is always a teacher close at hand if needed, there is a large amount of autonomy.

We would like to encourage applications from individuals who have experience of working with pupils in a range of settings, and those who would be keen to bring extra skills to the role which would support pupils outside of the classroom and allow for creative working across the school. This post would also suit a recently qualified teacher yet to take up a teaching position, or someone wishing to embark on teacher training in the future.

Applicants offering both full and part time availability are welcomed.

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to ensuring all students achieve their full potential.

  • Responsibilities include implementing the planning which will be left for the class teaching programmes.

  • The successful candidate will prove they are effective collaborators with all staff, visitors, and other agencies.

  • Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of safeguarding, ensuring any concerns are reported.

  • To actively contribute towards a positive culture within the school.

  • Taking responsibility for your personal Health and Safety at work, and reporting concerns.

  • Being committed to an ‘opportunities for all’ culture.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified (if possible in a core GCSE subject) or at least hold a Level 4 qualification within a relevant subject

  • DBS Enhanced Disclosure

  • Employment References from previous Teaching work

  • To establish appropriate relationships with young people and other professionals

  • Be reliable, enthusiastic, creative and honest

  • Have the ability to engage all students

Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay of £110 per day

  • Bookings are easily managed via the Manaba app
